I grew up mostly in Illinois, but my family moved around a bit, or more than a bit — I lived in Florida, Virginia, Texas, Idaho and Missouri before landing in a western Illinois town along the Mississippi.
I also bounced around after high school — from Butte, Montana, to St. Louis to Chicago — before landing on Anna Maria Island.
I called the island home from Labor Day 2005 to January 2018 and now live in west Manatee County, by Palma Sola Bay and several nature preserves.
I became interested in art in high school and never turned away. I studied art at Blackhawk Community College in Moline, Illinois, and continued to study art at Truman College in Chicago, where I earned an associate’s degree and graduated with Phi Theta Kappa Society honors in 2005.
I’ve worked in a variety of mediums. Design is a passion. So is photography; it’s like an electrical charge when there’s a connection to the subject.
